One of the features of WiFi 7
Static Puncturing This is pre-configured for the entire Basic Service Set (BSS) and advertised by the AP via the Disabled Subchannel Bitmap in the EHT Operation element (e.g., in beacons). All devices in the network, including STAs, must adhere to this pattern and avoid transmitting on the statically punctured subchannels. Static puncturing is mandatory in Wi-Fi 7 for wider channels (80 MHz+).
Dynamic Puncturing This is decided per-transmission (per-PPDU) based on real-time channel assessment (e.g., interference from radar, other Wi-Fi, or non-Wi-Fi sources). It's optional in Wi-Fi 7 and allows for more flexible avoidance of temporary issues without changing the BSS-wide configuration.
